The mandate of these gifted and dedicated people is to visit and be a “soul friend” to those members of the congregation who can no longer attend church or other activities due to sickness, age, or other infirmity. The visitors begin their ministry after going through an intensive course, an initial introduction made by the incumbent or myself, and have completed the screening process.
This "Ministry of Listening" is one that Jesus himself commanded his followers to perform when he said, "visit the sick, the elderly and those in prison".
We currently have 26 lay pastoral visitors.
